Cooper GFE Poised to be a Low-Rolling Resistance Leader in 2009
Fuel-efficient replacement tire debuts at SEMA, will be available July 2009
FINDLAY, OHIO, NOVEMBER 4, 2008 – COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY (NYSE: CTB) is dedicated to developing technology and fuel saving benefits, and is debuting the Cooper GFE – the company’s first low-rolling resistance touring tire – at SEMA, the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world.
The GFE is designed to provide Greater Fuel Efficiency (as its initials imply), and reduce rolling resistance without sacrificing tread life or traction. This "green" tire combines state-of-the-art mixing technology together with an enhanced polymer system and silica tread compound, to provide exceptional wear, fuel economy, improved wet traction and a smooth, quiet ride.
“The Cooper GFE will play a significant role in the battle to improve fuel economy and efficiency, ultimately helping consumers save money in this tight economy,” said Hal Gardner, Vice President of Marketing for Cooper Tire. “It will truly help dispel the notion that you can’t get great performance out of a low-rolling resistance tire.”
The Cooper GFE is tentatively scheduled to be available to consumers through Cooper’s extensive network of dealers in the summer of 2009 in a 14- through 16-inch size range that will fit many popular fuel efficient vehicles.
“The Cooper GFE will help ensure that owners don’t have to sacrifice performance or durability when purchasing a low-rolling resistant tire to compliment their vehicle,” added Gardner.
