Cooper Tire Launches Patriotic Promotion
Dealer Campaign Enters Second Year
FINDLAY, Ohio, May 26, 2004 – COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY (NYSE: CTB), an American-owned company, announces a special marketing opportunity for its tire dealers. Consumers who purchase a set of four Cooper tires starting Memorial Day through Flag Day and ending the Fourth of July receive an American flag and flagpole free of charge.
This is the second year for the flag promotion. In June 2003, more than 200 tire dealers nationwide gave nearly 20,000 flags to Cooper customers during the month-long giveaway. Cooper Tire is providing all of its dealers with the promotional materials for the campaign and reimbursing 100 percent of the cost for the flags in addition to any local media coverage dealers may purchase.
"Beth Barron, director of business development for Chabill’s Tire Traxx, a Louisiana-based tire dealer with 10 stores, proposed the concept for the promotion in an effort to maximize the local marketing co-op dollars Cooper provides its dealers," states Pat Brown, vice president, global branding and communications for Cooper Tire. "We liked the idea so much that we extended the marketing opportunity to our dealer network nationwide."
"Cooper does such an outstanding job helping us sell tires locally," Barron says of Chabill’s Tire Traxx 25-year relationship with the tire company. "The point-of-sale and marketing materials they have provided dealers for this campaign are especially helpful."
Cooper Tire has sent dealers across the country a marketing kit that includes 30-second radio scripts and detailed print advertising specific to the flag promotion.
"It’s reassuring to know that a large supplier such as Cooper Tire is interested in the local efforts of its tire dealers. This promotion is just one example of Cooper’s relationship with the local distributor," Barron said.
